weight, wheel offset, ride height, CG and RC, I guess it's fine to use what someone else did as a base line but coil overs can get expensive if you don't get the right ones especialy for a road and track application that should use da shocks.

What are some really good brand shocks like the kind you would find on a real race car but can still take the daily driving abuse?

real race cars are not driven on the street, but to answer the question there are a lot of "race" shocks, Penske, Afco, Pro, Koni, Ohlins, Bilstein....

seeing as how I will be driving it on the street as well as on a track I shouldn't go for these brands though right?

What other type of shocks are DA and good for both applications?

shock brands make no difference as long as they are quality built, the correct valving for the application is what is important
