Like Jody said, I'd like to know who told you that. That's not even close to being true. Why would we not want community members to get in a magazine? One of our Moderators used to be at PHR and is now at Camaro Performers. I just don't follow the logic that someone would actually make a claim like that.

And if you're interested, threads don't get "deleted", they get moved to what we call the dumpster so the Mods still have access to them for future reference. I looked, and there's about 90 threads in the dumpster, 99% of which are there because they were either spam, non-advertising businesses using the site to generate income, or duplicate threads. Threads that turn into flame wars simply get locked.

Jody
Don't worry about it.. I've come to the realization that no matter how much one tries to help others that there will be some that just want more or feel somehow victimized.

It fall under the "no good deed goes unpunished" catagory

There was a thread that completely vanished a few weeks ago about a camaro being shot for 2 magazines. It was pretty heated and it was here one minute and gone the next. Not sure if that is what he is talking about, but the description fits the situation.

It was going nowhere.. somehow I was the uncaring a-hole stepping on the poor hapless "little guy" ...

I saw it another way. It stopped being useful to the site so it went in the dumpster with the other garbage. And I learned that you're really only useful to people so long as they think there's something in it for them.

Fairly simple really..

Funny it should come up again.

Default Slight Turn

Hey Steve, glad to finnally say hi.

Taking a slight turn here, I sent art work to a magazine (doesn't have to be mentioned right now) around a year ago. I sent it snail mail thinking it was a bolder approach.

It was never published and I wonder why. Does it all work out the same way?

Maybe the style of car wasn't what they wanted, or maybe it was too similar.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Ah yeah, that thread. That turned into a complete hate fest, nothing to do with how to get a car in a magazine.

Remember that Editor are just people.. they have likes and dislikes.. just like how one guy might really like a car (or a drawing) and someone else may not.

If you have a scan you can shoot me a low-res and I will tell you if I saw it.

BTW.. just like life this is a relationship business..
We've met, a couple of times, but I didn't make a big thing out of it.
The car is far from finished, but it looks like I need to start with the relatioship building. I am not one to start a conversation with "Hi my name's Dork and this is my dream of a car, thats not done, remember me in the future". But I need to start doing something for the future.

I guess I need to start a build thread also, then maybe at least you'll know who I am.

Thanks for answering all of the questions and breaking them down too, it really helps.

Mick
