Nice swap - I spy 08+ Z06 Competition Grey wheels... and some boxers on the pass side door jamb... hahaha.

Is that an LQ4 or LQ9 engine?

Lq4 vs LQ9.... Good question. It is out of a 2008 Trailblazer SS, but I haven't had a chance to run the numbers to confirm which. Supposedly, it puts out 400hp, but I didn't find anything conlusive to confirm which version it is.

Can anyone help with that?

Good catch on boxers... Go Green... Recycle, Re-Use!!

Matt,
Thanks bud. My first measurements on the TQ tube show that it should be perfect!

The difference between the LQ4's and LQ9's are the heads and pistons. I think the LQ9 has a higher compression ratio than the LQ4. But that motor you have is a derivative of the LS2 in the Trailblazers. I think its even aluminum. None of the LQ9's or LQ4's were rated at 395hp that i know of.

Yeah I want to say its around 400 hp - that being said - it has the truck intake, and truck accessories drive and components...

You going to have to lengthen that torque tube?

I dont think the torque in the picture is the lengthened one. I am working on a 68 Camaro that Im doing the same thing too and I lengthened a tube roughly 6". We traded tubes since the lengthened one ended up not being the best way to go for my set up. So he has my lengthened torque tube.

Ya, correct on both accounts...

That motor is a LS2 variant, with truck intake and accessories. I couldn't remember if the LQ4/9 was a variant within the LS2 family, but of course no realize that (as you mentioned) that they are the Iron block truck family motor. The TBSS LS2 is essentially the ~395HP LS2 with the truck intake and accessory pulley system and funky oil pan.

I am likely going to keep the accessory pully setup, unless I can find a car variant at the boneyard for a good price... but am putting together the plan for a Intake, CAM and GM L92 heads. In fact, Scoggin' Dickey is my next call in a couple mintes to get a package together.

On top of the new items I'll be sourcing from Scoggin' Dickey/other, I'll be changing the oil pan and then pulley system if I find something, plus have LT headers waiting.

Matt and I swapped TQ tubes, and that is indeed the stock one in the pictures. Matt's been buggin me to get some updated pictures up for a while, and since I've been lagging those are from the first mockup where I was just getting a look at intial fit. The 6" stretch looks to be about perfect, giving me a little motor setback, but most likely retaining the firewall. I'm not sure I wanted to go there (takeing out the firewall), but given the extent that I'm rebuilding the car I don't think having to fab up a firewall would be all too much more work anyways!!

Matt, thanks for the good hookup!!!... and stoked it's going to work out for us both well!
