How did they manage to get the 4 speed 4L80E to be a sixspeed?

It is my understanding that it is a re-enginered L80 trans case. It has 5 forward gears and a lock up converter. If I understood right. I like the tci paddle system because its all internal. no external cylinder or mechanical linkage like all other paddle systems Iv looked into.

This is the 4L80E case, the 6L80E has a much bigger case and many cars will require some tunnel mods to fit it. I believe they used the 4 series case to fit most cars easier. Easier to market that way? With a rating of 850hp it should live behind most 550-600hp street motors for a long time.

we just fit one in a full perimeter chassis 69 camaro we are building, it is getting paint and interior, but we will be test driving it in early febuary .
ours is going behind a 640 hp 454ci lsx
