i just listened to Jackson being interviewed...he said both the auction and the consigner sit down and both give ballpark numbers of what both think it will sell for...then the seller has to agree that B-Js estimated hammer price would be acceptable....then when it comes across the block the auctioneer sees both prices of seller and estimated B-J prices on his computer..is that true? and if it is ...how much off where they from what Jackson thought it would hammer for...and not how much off what you thought it would go for?
They asked what I thought it would go for. But all that is totally irrelevant . It's what two people are willing to pay.
I just gave my car away. They didn't show it on TV. 665.1 .
The pro touring cars are way down.
Not sure if there's to many custom/protouring cars here, economy or what. There are about 120 more cars this year then last, so maybe there aren't enough bidders to go around.
Sucks Mark. I DVR'd it and fast forwarded it through like 5 hours of coverage just to see it behind a shelby for 5 seconds. I was totally let down for you.

I'm so glad I took a look inside your showroom doors
Welcome BACK to the days where you were lucky if you got 50% of what you spent building a car when it came time to sell.
You take out all the "buyers" that hawked their house equity to buy a shiny new toy... since those days are over... and there's just not that many people left to bid these prices up.
Great to be a buyer - not so great to be a seller (aka CELLAR).
Your car was killer Mark... it's not you -- it's the market.

I agree with the Mecum auction, at least you get to set the reserve and you can remove it if it bids high enough on the block. In my opinion BJ has ruined the auction business with there look at me attitude.
Who ever invented the DVR deserves a cold one on me It only takes about an hour and a half to fast forward through all the crap. Was pissed I did'nt get to see more of your Chevelle. Definitely perfer to watch Meccum.
For whatever reason I usually don't get to spend much time watching the auctions. I had it on for a bit on Saturday, and I was astonished at how utterly clueless the announcers were. It was like the B squad for the local college football crew trying to cover Rugby. Unbelievable. For as big of a deal as they make it, they should have experts covering the show, period. Maybe they want to dumb it down for the pedestrians, but seriously, that's not who the show draws. IMHO.
I have been watching a bit of the Barrett Jackson from Las Vegas on Speed. Every time a Pro-Touring car goes across the block the announcers almost seem shocked when they fetch more money than a restored car. They also have no clue what is going on with this genre. One of them called a blue 67 Camaro definitely Pro Street. This is not a passing fad. These guys should do their homework and get a clue. Am I the only one thinking this? Ok, Rant over.
not to mention they don't know the difference between a resto-mod and Pro touring car. They also have been making many mistakes on just cars in general. They covered a 65 Olds 442 and everything they described about the car was completely wrong.
I can't stand the commentating... sadly these guys seem to know nothing about American cars in general and after five years of muscle cars dominating they show they haven't made an effort to learn? And some of the things that they focus on???
You're looking at a Shelby GT500 Convertible and the remarkable thing you pick out is that they use Lucas fog lights?

I watch it with the volume turned down. I wish you could see the entire footage, get a look at cars that a regular Joe might dream for... or at least get a laugh at some of the stuff that goes through.
