Have you been happy with the flush mount glass? I have thought about doing the same on my car. But I have not seen any second gens with it yet.

Side glass for a second gen. is kinda hit or miss. I'm on my second 2 gen. build now.
The first car I used Autocity glass. The qaulity is great and I have no complaints. The fit is where the rub comes in, the side glas is just a little larger than the factory pieces they replaced. They work fine, but are tight when all the way up no matter how you adjust it. I called Auto city and they offered to send replacement side windows at no charge and said this happens with some runs of second gen. door glass. I decided the fit was good enough compared with the hassle of return shipping, packaging and changing/readjusting windows.
Over on NastyZ28.com glass was discussed at length once and there were problems with side windows from all the suppliers except one. Problem is that the supplier of the good side glass has now changed vendors since the good vendor stopped making the product. This may have changed since I haven't visited the site in a while. I'll be checking on this very shortly as I'm approaching the point of needing glass for my new car.
Also when I purchased from Autocity I ordered the complete car glass kit in smoke tint. The tint glass may be different or produced by someone different than the green tint and clear glass. The rear window is close to correct, but is slightly flatter at the curved upper corner than the factory unit.
Just my experiences with 2nd gen. glass so far. Let me know where you source from and how the fit is.
With the side windows in my 73 they are tight enough in the upper seals that my electric-Life power window motors will not raise them all the way when the door is closed for lack of enough torque. I have to open the door then top the window out and close the door. The lack of torque when raising the windows from the Electric-Life units is another product I will not use again.

Thanks for the info Tommy. I have spoken to you before on the other site. In fact I am using your thread here as a ref for replacing my roof skin.
Are you already on another second gen? (a third one?) Do you have a thread for it?
Oh, and thanks too for the elictric life kit opinion. Power windows are something I want. Is there any other kits out there? Or maybe refurbished OEM components is a better way to go?

No not a third car, I'm still working on project Fool's Gold. I just had some set backs time wise with several elements of the build but it is back on track now and I should have some updates in the coming month.
The electric-life units are "very" weak when raising the windows and I'm not happy with their operation as a whole. They have not failed in any way but just aren't up to the standards I want. For the new car I do have a set of Factory power windows to refurbish but at the same time I'm also looking at Nu-Relics power windows. I've been hearing really good things about the Nu-Relics from several sources.

we just replaced the side glass in the 79 we just delivered, it was wavy or leaked. no on it and did not look up the dot number. we replaced it with Pilkington and was much better piece than what was removed. I used autocity, and is hit or miss depending on car and piece of glass. Usually all your problems will be in the side glass.

Thanks Mike. I will look into Nurelics.
I have 3 full sets of door glass. Two aftermarket, and one original set. After looking at all of it I may just use the OE set. I think they can be polished out ok. I bought the others second hand and couldn't tell you which maker or vendor they came from. They are at least 5 years old. Not perfect either. No damage, just manufac. flaws.

Here is the thread I was talking about. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67233
I called and spoke with Auto City Classics this morning since I will also need glass soon. They have the green tint and clear in stock, the smoked glass is on back order. They would not tell me the manufacturer, only said that they use several different manufacturers.
I used them for their smoke glass kit in my grey car. At that time the manufacturer of their kit was Pilkington Classic. As shown in the link above and as I stated earlier it was larger than original and was a b*tch to adjust and make work. My clearances are dangerously tight and as I said this overcomes the electric-life lift motors.
Just adding information. Tell me if you find anything.
