So, with that, and my own multiple negative experiences with the DMV (not relating to VIN's) I agree with the above recommendation. Not because your doing anything wrong, but because the Government is stupid.

in most states/ federal too I believe , it is considered illegal the "tamper with or remove" vin tags, unless done so by law enforcement / licensed repair facitity
