I don't know if they all hate their jobs, but I hate UPS. I use Fed Ex and USPS almost exclusively. Fed Ex Ground is cheaper than UPS, and with an account I can walk in the door at Fed Ex, dump the package on the counter and leave. No waiting or anything. Awesome when there is a line out the door at 5pm of people coming in to pickup packages.

I generally like UPS...I use their website to do all of my labels and we have a daily pick up...my local driver has been the same guy on our route for about the last 9 years...I think UPS treats their people pretty well, from what I can tell...my brother in law up in Petaluma works for them, as well...We do use USPS for smaller less critical shipments...it seems like the USPS can't be bothered with larger packages, at times...always seems to be some kind of issue.

I get much less grief from UPS in the event of a damage claim, than from any other carrier.

Note that the USPS just inked a deal with UPS, to start moving the US MAIL for them!

No way, it's not your fault in the least, Anthony. I was just venting about the people working the counter at UPS (not a UPS Store, it was right at UPS).

Fortunately, my UPS delivery guy is great. He must be a car guy.

I always have good luck with Fedex. Their prices always seem to blow UPS out of the water. I would rate their customer service as average. They rarely smile behind that counter, but they're cordial. I'm only in there for 5 minutes anyway.

Interesting discussion. I just ordered a crate small block through Summit racing that was delivered via UPS truck freight. It was a terrible experience. The woman (named Nikki) at the Tampa area UPS terminal was a nasty rude wench on the phone to my wife about making arrangements to deliver. She called us to confirm things and got nasty when my wife said we would need a lift gate.

No return call, no word. I called back and was transfered through a couple of people then put to the local dispatcher. He was a real redneck with ther personality of a rock. The driver they sent could barely speak english. They rented a Penske truck to deliver the engine. The driver called me for directions, then got lost anyway. I lost 3.5 hours of work driving home early for him not to show up until after I could have just left work and gone home.

The good news is the engine showed up safe and sound. The bad news is, I lost some productive time and days due to some issues going on with that local terminal.

This experience will cause me to think twice about using them for anything in the future.

I don't use UPS For Truck Freight, It's just not their game, at all.

For that I use Yellow Freight.

They pay well, and try to convince their people that they can't make as much money else where. This maybe true for the people that didn't go to school and have been at UPS forever, but all of their new hires are college grads and they are losing good people left and right.
So, I guess to answer your question most people at UPS don't like their jobs. If you are talking about "The UPS Store" most of those are individually owned.

What did your wife do there?
