Default damn

that does suck but it happens... usually a gentlemans agreement doesn't happen till some type deposit is left. Sounds like the agreement that was made was while the wife was asleep. See how far it goes and bid on it...maybe you can get it for less???

Thats what I was thinking. If you really want the car, and don't mind dealing with the guy a bit longer to get the car. Simply try to bid for it cheaper. I understand you shouldn't even have to go through the bidding process, but if you got it cheaper...well then you got your own little victory.

Default I would not bid on the car and retract my offer

If the car does not sell he will be calling you and I would offer much less than the originally agreed upon price.

Yes, it is Heath. He seemed to be a nice stand up guy until yesterday..

trapin, his wife was well aware this, I have been looking at this car for about 2 months and everything was a go. Like I said, they saw the bidding go from 25k on monday night to 45k tuesday morning and I'm sure they thought they can get more money from someone else. If they want to play that game, I really don't want it. If I bought it now, I would think about the way I got screwed around everytime I looked at it.. There are other cars out there or I will build one exactly like I want..

When I give someone my word, I stand by it no matter what, plus my wife never tells me what to do with my cars..

Ya know, the only thing weaker then a guy that uses his wife as a shill excuse for things he decides he does not want to do, is a guy that really does let his wife interfere with his business.

SW this guys is a real tool. What a pos to make his wife handle his dirty work. If the mo doesn't have the sack to call you himself and explain he made a mistake by accepting your offer, screw him.

If he calls after the auction and the high bidder backs out offer 5-10k less and tell him to sit on that...

I am a man of my word, like my father. Too bad he got screwed for millions for being that way. It's a tough go, but these days people care less and less about morals and only about money and themselves.

I say screw this guy and build one the way you want.

Default the right thing to do.

Maybe everyone should know the whole story: Yes, SW did want to buy our Mustang and we did agree to a price. In our final conversation two weeks ago long before it was on Ebay SW said "so whats it going to take to buy it?" I replied "the original amount we discussed" he replied " I have to change some stuff and ship it too, so I need to figure out if it's in the budget" I replied "let me know". I waited 2 weeks and never heard from SW. He claims he left a message that I never received and he has my email as well. After waiting my wife says put it on Ebay, SW see's it and now decides he wants it again, so he calls me and I make a deal with him without checking with my wife, now I don't care what anyone says, the car is hers and thats no BS, my name is not on the title. She says she won't sign the bill of sale to SW because theres already bids on Ebay and its not fair to the people who have already bid.
So here's my situation: do I risk divorce, piss of SW, piss off the bidders or all the other people who keep offering me money to end the auction or let my wife do it her way?
I decide to have my wife call SW and explain her decision.
I regret backing out of the deal with SW and the only way to be fair is let it run on Ebay. SW did have the oppritunity to buy the car before it went up for auction. What would you do? I think my wife made the right decision.
SW, I'm sorry your mad, you can still bid!
