I have a few different used Nascar pieces from a site in North Carolina. They get used parts from different teams and sell them on their site....kind of like a broker.

So its been a real battle trying to get anything OER or repo to fit even close to original. A few pieces I have been able to modify to make work but it takes lots of time for each piece. Progress has been frustratingly slow but it is happening.

NOS trunk weather seal...so much different from the rubber OER material....and the trunk actually closes with the NOS stuff. Got the jack and POSI decals installed as well. My original POSI decal was a little off level so I did it the same way.....adds a little character I think.

Original channels re-installed after a good cleaning and polishing ( lots of orange overspray as they were not removed when car was changed to orange color originally) and OER seals that fit quite well actually (the only thing so far)

Original door handles and lock cylinders polished up. OER side mirror looks great but fits like *** and needs to be replaced.

A set of 20 year old Softseal door rubber seals that fit quite well. The OER ones were over 1/2" off on the mounting points and could not be modified to fit my original doors. Dash all cleaned up from all the body shop dust and re-assembled.

Quarter window seals modified to fit. Lower vent panels fit pretty good though.

Nice, details like this make a big difference not alot of people will notice. Where did you get the trunk seal and door seals? My OER ones fit like crap like you described and I would like to replace them.

I got lucky on the trunk seal. My local Camaro guy had 1 set left in a bag in his back room....$120. I thought that was agood deal since I have seen sets go on Ebay for anywhere from $150-200 just for a single roll of trunk seal.

The door seals I had hanging around from back in 1989. They turned out to be in OK shape, just need a little silicon emulsion to bring them back. NOS door seals are going for anywhere from $1400-1800 on Ebay right now for a pair!!

Nice progress. Making all this stuff fit right is time consuming, but makes all the difference.

I agree totally. I am only doing this once and doing it right. It may take some extra cash and a few extra weeks of time, but in the scheme of things, I think the level of satisfaction at the end will be greater.

What do you mean? You don't like leaky trunks and window seals? Or having to slam the crap out of your doors?

The aftermarket stuff is a total joke! I feel your pain!! I looked through your thread today and everything your shop had circled on your quarter panel is EXACTLY where mine are bad... I hope your done with the aftermarket junk...
