diesel Vs. Gas muscle...we've done some cool duramax stuff...(835rwhp with well over 1800 ft lbs of torque) that drives a round all day like a stocker...
but with re-tarded pavement punishment when you lay in the thing hard....
But on the other hand we've done some sick sbc's/bbc's with lots!!! of power that we're mind numbing....

to each his own....and be glad we are not stuck with one brand, one model,
with one power plant.....then it would get boring.

P.S. Jody, Very nice truck!!!!!

It has to be a fake

1)the Exhaust sounds to close to the camara.
2) How would you fit or support that big heavy engine .
Did you notice the front suspension is at almost stock height. It uses a fiberglass leaf spring and how would you add coilovers.
3) why did they not not show the engine? i doubt it would fit under the hood.
4) would that engine even fit or bolt up to a corvette transaxle? I doubt it

Awesome rig!

As you get to know it, let us know how you like it?

Any chance, Mr. banks will be hearing from you?

i think its just the fact that they have been doing it for so long now, even the jap car makers are behind the likes of bmw, audi, citroen etc because they had very little demand for diesel in asia until recently, its ironic that one of the most popular mini vans in europe is the grand caravan which has a turbo diesel engine that gets over 30 mpg and its not even an option in the usa! its also in the new nitro but again not an option over here, speed limits can be much higher in places like germany and a big motor uses way too much gas at 140mph plus so they develop sub 3 litre motors that will do this all day without breaking sweat. Also, does any one here know why the oil companies and car makers recommend oil changes at 3000 miles when the same car in europe with the same motor has an interval of 15-20000 miles? audi and bmw to name two have this interval and yet they have the same parts in them as north american models, even mobil one has "long life" oil for 8ooo miles yet the same oil in europe is rated for 25000 miles, the car makers would not risk ruining the engine by trebling or quadrupling the service intervals so i think the us oil companies have every one brainwashed into making out you need do change oil just to boost the profits, the first service on a brand new cobalt in europe is 12000 miles! before anything gets checked. drivetrains on most north american cars get a much easier life too due to the fact that autos rarely have the motor screaming and the speed limits are generally lower, most euro cars are standard transmissions and drivers bang down the gears to slow down which is harder on a drivetrain.I am not down on the us cars , i live here, its just that being from over the pond i can give a good account of the way things are different in different countries.

Maybe you have the inside skinny with Gale. It would be impressive.

Profitability is key

As a company they have been getting back into gas products with cat-back exhaust systems and air intakes but that's probably as far as it will go. They have been getting into electronics for gas applications as well but these are mostly rebadged product from other well known companies.

Not to go to far off subject but I guess I am most qualified to comment on the gas turbo situation. Gale has shown very little interest in making turbo product for LSx's. There was a time when John Espino and myself thought we could push the project forward with Colin(Gale's Son) but alas the project didnt get off the ground. Gale may have his reasons but all I've personally heard is that he has no faith in the engine handling the power.

Not to sound like a disgruntled EX employee but the gas turbo stuff doesn't make him money so that department got ignored.

Is this for improvement for their systems or a broadening of the market of the systems? As far as I knew, they have been in this type of business a long time. (The re-badging is definitely understandable)

Interesting. From what I can tell the power making abilities of the LSx type engine is pretty remarkable. (What do I know)

He knows so much about Turbo's and how to package kits, it just seamed like a natural for him. He was the only one I knew that had a complete kit, with everything ready to install.

Since it had already been done for a sbc, I to thought a LSx kit would be somewhat of a piece of cake. It seem that the, "Fabrication", of the necessary parts needed for a proper installation was/is the big draw back for most people. They either don't have the skills or can't afford someone who does to really finish it up correctly.

At the time, I figured on going with a kit, as most of the really competent builders, don't live anywhere near me and a Custom Job always cost more than a good prefabbed kit.

Oh well.

Thanks again,

Ty O'Neal

i think banks are worried about the reliability of the engine without having big costs for internals, the ls motors only have powdered metal rods so to boost reliably an ls series would need crank, rods pistons etc and these are a fair bit more costly than for a sbc,
