Funny you mention that Greg. During the auction of the car I noticed close ups of the grill and it looked like there were water spots on on the alum around the grill. I was thinking, that's no way to get mad money out of a Bugatti auction..!

There would have to be one hell of a disclaimer if that was the one that went swimming.

I have bought as drivers a few swimmers in my rebuuilding days. Fresh water, no worries, salt water, LOTS a worries.

Kenny Davis and I said the same thing Saturday afternoon during the auction. I also thought it was strange to have almost 12,000 miles on it. If a service is 100 grand and tires are 25,000 Who would really drive that car that much. 12,000 miles seemed like a lot of mileage for a 1.7 million dollar car. JMHO

So do sellers have a way of buyer their car back if they don't like the price? It seems like a few cars have been though BJ several times in one year....

You'd pay 18% over hammer price, trans there and back, trip, etc. You better really want that car back.

I think they go back across many times because BJ winds up owning the car due to various issues. Like Frank's Firebird

I noticed those re auctioned cars too. There was blue '67 Camaro that went after me. I spoke with the owner, he bought it last year in a "drunken stooper", got tired of it, and sold it this year. Kind of a difference in price.

Not sure what the story was with these two re sells, but there also was a price difference.

Nice pro touring '69 Camaro.

The Bugatti crashed into a TEXAS LAKE.... so I would ASSume it's fresh water?

Even if the insurance company totaled the car - they sell the carcass to somebody... and a car like that is not going to just disappear.

There has to be good reason the bids were so low... my guess is the market "knew" something.

Mark --

My big block 400hp 67 vette went thru BJ Scottsdale AFTER a body off restoration - 5 years after I sold it - for the same price (private sale) - and got the same exact dollars.... now subtract the body off resto - the fees - transportation - the cost of money....

There's a very long and sordid story that goes with this - but this ain't the "I sold my vette" thread.
