David , yes the diff will be at 55 " ,,I have already got a moser rear custom built a few years back and will now have to have it narrowed to suit.. also the g bar rear needs the mounts welded to the diff. No big deal , just im impatient and i wanna drive the thing sooner than later..

Gav,

As Vince suggested, brakes also may play a role. I'll probably go with the stock width rear and stock dish making replacement a cinch. I'm going with Moser full floater (steel hubs) and PBRs on Willwood GT rotors. GMR makes the mounts for the PBRs and a sweet little parking prake optiion. At 58" as a standard width it will be easier to get a replacement if needed. I'm sure Moser can and will make any width but they have specific widths already in stock. And from what I see they have good prices. Are you dead set on keeping the 12 bolt? Just a thought.

Generally speaking you want to select the wheels with the offset you like first. Then mock them up under the car to determin the WMS to WMS width of the rear end. Here is a good post on exactly what the WMS measurement is and how to measure it. Just for the record, my rear wheels are 18x12 with a 5.9" back space. I mocked them up under the car where I wanted them and determined that I needed a 57" WMS to WMS rear end.

Needs to be said that not All rims come in . The backspace that you may want..and not All rims can be custom ordered..which is why you want your rims first.. Ever see a car with the rear tires "in too-far" cuz the builder narrowed the rear to much for the desired rims..
