I think there is definitely room in the tv market for a show showcasing pro touring terrors. I personally don't feel this show and its gimmick are really necessary. The problem is the mass market, couch potatoes need some sort of bs or backstory to stay involved. I'm guessing the majority of members and lurkers on this site would watch any show where pro touring cars were getting wrung out..... But would that be enough to keep it on the air?

You bring up a good point. Just look at the drama etc in all the other car shows and then look at our complaints about not being car oriented enough. While the show is on Speed, that doesn't mean it can survive without appealing to the masses. I honestly haven't seen an episode so I have no direct comment on the show beyond the general understanding of what it needs to survive, ie mass appeal. I just hope Bill and everyone else involved gets a second season out of it because it's cool to see car shows succeed especially when the cars kickass.

It's so much fun to watch. The Reep/Squire exchanges are priceless. I've never followed Reep, so this is a great way to get introduced to his talent and style of comedy.
I'm of the impression that the quality of the shows improved from one episode to the next. By the end of the season, the action had me on the edge of my seat. That means season two will be entirely awesome, as the producers apply their experience from season one.

I hope to see....
-- More cameras on track, so that we can get a better sense of a a full lap.
-- Just a little less redneck. I enjoyed the banter, but a like 10-15% reduction would leave a little more room for track time or car talk, and..
-- A better range and match up of cars like the Camaro S2000 pairing. That was good stuff and really put things in perspective. The S2000 -- small, nimble and with a very low center of gravity, excelled in the tight corners. The Camaro made up the time with muscle.

First, I have very tough skin, so don't worry about hurting my feelings or me needing my back patted.
Second, I have a direct connection with the producer.
with that in mind, expound on your critic of the show and how you would "fix" it. I promise, they will see your reply.
Keep in mind, this is a 30 minute comedy show about real racing of us versus them. with that in mind, tell me your fix.

That explains why you walked in to someones master bedroom and crapped on their bed.

I understand where you're coming from, I watch no traditional network TV because the content nauseates me. TV has been dumbed down to a point the programming must only appeal to medicated sheep.

At first I was disappointed with RU but started taking it with a grain of salt and the fact that at least they have decent performing cars and a little humor on the trash talk..............if the Redneck drivers could just understand that there is a tight corner at the end of the front straight.

Here are some of my suggestions....granted I don't know the feasability of some when I'm sure your working within tight budgets.

1. Less redneck! I understand the comedic angle but I've watched it for the cars. I haven't ever turned to speed network for humour in the past I personally wouldn't start now. (I wanted to take a jab at other garbage on the network but that's another story for another time maybe on a different fourm)

2. Mix up the cars, mix up the location, mix up the competition. Drag, autocross, 0-60-0, standing mile etc.

3. Even the playing field if possible, bring the equivalent of Detroit Speeds cars and drivers out for the import side. Finch is a hot shoe also. Surely there are import shops out there that would love the publicity.

Although at times I though the show was ho-hum, I still dvr'd the season and enjoy watching the show. Gave me motivation to get my ass in the garage to work on my nova. I am surprised its on speed as I didn't realize they showed anything but taxi cab, ie nascar...lol I would like to see the show go to an hour and maybe open up time to maybe add an additional race or event. Either way, it's just my .02 which isn't worth much, and I'll continue to watch!
