The z28 is definitely better than the boss. The boss has a solid axle, less HP, doesn't have carbon brakes or the shock technology that gm does. It also cost almost 20k less than the z28. I think gm has finally produced a good camaro and zl1 owners are probably going to be disappointed I know I would be. It's about time chevy has a camaro better than the mustang.
But my thoughts are. Cobra jet > copo , 5.0 gt> SS , gt500> ZL1 , Boss + 20k > Z28.

The Z/28’s lap is four seconds faster than the Camaro ZL1, and beats published times for the Porsche 911 Carrera S and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. The Z/28’slap was completed on less-than-ideal conditions, with damp pavement and pouring rain near the end of the run.

"One of the challenges of testing at the 'Ring is that the track is so long that conditions can change radically in a single lap," said Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer. "Adam Dean, the development driver for Z/28, did a heroic job driving in deteriorating conditions. Based on telemetry data from our test sessions, we know the Z/28 can be as much as six seconds faster on a dry track."
Game on!

the good news is it has 2 more seat then the vette.

Still it's a factory race car and that is going to cost more then a normal version of the car. What did the Boss 302 track car cost from memory they were 125 or 150k

My dealer is telling me closer to $80K, plus a BIG dealer pack on top of that. The carbon brakes didn't help the price, but I have them on my Z06/Z07 and, IMHO, they are worth the price, especially on a car as heavy as the Camaro. A lot of LS7s have "bit the dust" on the track, mostly due to valve guide and sodium filled exhaust valve problems -- hope they have that solved. I would still pay sticker, but dealer packs P... me off!

Let me fix that for you

80K is still a lot of money for a "street" car with no air conditioning or radio
Comparing it to a Boss302S isn't really fair either, as that is a full prepped, ready to rock racecar..... for the same money. http://www.rehagenracingproducts.com...R500-B302S.htm

The Z28 should have been an el strippo with the LS7 and that's it. 40K pricetag FTW!

That said......I want one.
