Some fresh pics of the cold-side all mocked up. We decided to keep it cool and out in the fresh air. If this was a drag car we'd stay in the engine bay but give it 30 mins on the track and it'll be all heat-soaked under there.

Gotta love those Brembos too.
The underside is also (re-) finished. The torque arm tube stayed but we redid the rest - one of those days where you just have to admit you made a wrong turn. Now it has a very unique way of cross bracing and providing monster torsional rigidity.

A bit of safety being added. 8pt roll bar + some swing outs to get in and out.

Interesting way of welding. Or did Dustin just fall asleep with the light on?

Whew, seems like the car has been at SoCal Paintworks for an age (<2 weeks actually) , but they ARE hard at work!

When stripping they found a "repair" on the rear qtr by some previous owner. Looks quite a bit better now!

We had to cut the tunnel to get both the T-56 and some special reinforcements in place underneath so new tunnel is being fabbed:

Primer & block sanding again and again. Glad its not my garage...

Meanwhile I'm busy on the carbon parts. Here the hood scoop being molded as a positive layup instead of a mold. I was trying to save time and this is the first time I've done it with clear carbon and no gelcoat. Jeez, the hours spent on clearcoating and sanding that thing! The front spoiler and splitter are a bit more rough finished thank god.

Wax on, wax off. Getting the original ready and slick:

2 layers of black glass:

One layer carbon:

Rough part ready for a zillion layers of PU clear filler and sanding:

Filled and sanded, ready for PU clear coat finish:

Inside getting some stiffening with Airex foam core and carbon over it:

FINALLY done!

Car is back from SoCal Paintworks in primer and now its the finishing stretch. Should be some serious updates to look at over the next weeks!

Here some of the hard work they put into it:

Ready for serious finishing. The emblem is going to look cool.
