Finally posting - My idea of the next 5th Gen Camaro
Hey guys,
I've been wanting to post the design and renderings for weeks. I'm not finished with it but here's a preview of the 5th Gen I've been designing for the the last 2-3 months. I'm finishing up the rear 3/4 view next week (hopefully). Time for my own projects is slim to none.
If I designed a 5th Gen Concept Camaro car this would be what I'd want it to look like. I tried to maintain the balance between modern and retro styling. I want the car to have enough heritage in the lines yet still be something that is fresh and new. I was thinking the rear wheels would be one size larger than the front similar to the C5 and C6. The modern, leaned back 1969 nose was something I've had thoughts about for a long time. The rear fenders arch up high with a slung back roof for low CD. I modernized the fender lips that shoot towards the back of the car much like a '69 but cleaner and more chiseled.
This version would be the Z/28 version. But the lower front valence is actually the one I will be using for the SS version I will have completed shortly. For the SS version I was thinking modernized hockey stick stripe, different hood and rear spoiler. The wheels would also be unique SS wheels as well.
Again, this is a concept and just my idea of what I personally think I'd like the next Camaro to look like. 1969 elements feel more modern to me. I will be doing some variations of this, probably an interior design and possibly an engine compartmernt rendering.
I know GM is probably going to be showing the REAL Camaro in January but I did this for fun and thought I'd like to take a stab at it and see what I could come up with. Being a designer sometimes it's hard to not wonder what it will look like or think - if I were a designer at GM what would I do.
I'd love to hear any positive critiques or comments. I'm open to that. I'm also working on Firebird versions that I will post soon as well. I think the Pontiac guys deserve a Firebird again too but it's probably not in the cards at GM. Who knows.
