Well fellas.. it was just one of those damn days...

Got up to the shop and took Vertigo out for a spin before we headed over the dyno shop. Romped on her pretty good up and down the frontage road. Just trying to break in the clutch of course

Took a couple videos and pics before sundown.

So after the fun and games we head over to the dyno about 5 miles from the Gearhead shop but she is running like total crap, spittin and moanin like an exhaust leak of some kind.... get to the shop and see that the IC piping had moved a bit, knocking a pulley into the upper radiator hose and puncturing it. But the motor also sounds like it is down to 7 cylinders.... so needless to say we decided not to dyno tonite.

Then.... to really cap off my evening.... I get about an hour of the way home from Sacto to SF and right before stopping for some BBQ in Berkeley for some late dinner and a couple beers, my shifter comes detached from the tranny in the Porsche... must be either the linkage or the cable. So I leave it there on the street, walk the block to the BBQ joint, eat and have a beer, then walk 2 miles to BART (the bay area public train) and take that back to the city, then get on MUNI (the dirty-ass public bus) and then walk about a mile back to my place.

Awesome night. I go from first (romping on a procharged pro-touring Camaro) to worst (public trans and then walking home).

I love cars. Not.

P.S. At least once both my rides were out of commission for the day, I decided to hit the beers hard. Nothing beats drinking some good beers on public transportation. Hey, everyone's doin it!

WOW Dave,

What a turn around.. Jason always told me the car would strand me at some point...didnt know that includes daily drivers. I am sure MUNI sucked.

I am sure Jason will get it figured out soon... and we will be back driving again.

OMG -- Couldn't help but laugh at your story... sorry! You probably would have punched me if you were here... but it was just such a visual. You sitting in the Porsche holding up the shifter... and all the public transportation.

You're going to be an alchoholic soon. Pretty rough luck! Porsche was just jealous.

Damn Porsche! At least the Camaro didn't leave you stranded.....
We'll reschedule the Dyno so we can BOTH dyno our cars at the same time- should be good fun!! Perhaps a late night run back to the shop with 'em?

I thought you had enough of our sweet public transportation on the GoodGuys weekend- since yours was tied up inside. Pretty weak story! Don't bang those gears so hard and maybe the shifter will stay attached. Worse yet, I'm sure the shifter handle & repair on the Porsche will cost way more than ANYTHING on the Camaro

I still don't get what's going on with that engine; it was flawless in Dons car, no mechanical issues. Had a tuning issue at one point with intake reversion and the single plane manifold it had, but the StealthRam solved that.
