Are you saying it won't fit under a cowl hood?

Just got word from the folks at holley that it might be a tight fit, but it certainly isn't a "no-go" on this intake.

I guess we'll see how it goes when I finally get the engine and subframe all mocked up.

With a cowl hood you should probably be fine, I'm running an LS with a truck intake (much taller than LS1 or LS6) and I have a stock hood on a 69 Firebird....but I only have about 3/8 of an inch clearance. If you want I can measure the height of my intake and you could compare it to your holley.

Build looks awesome so far.

From Holley

I think the intake is 12.32 inches tall from the top of the lifter valley cover flange on the engine block

Max,

That Aluminum hood, is it stamped just like an OEM? I ask because some of the composite hoods offer more space on the underside and don't have all the truss work that incorporated the factory Cowl to Aircleaner seal etc...

I think Scott runs one that is virtually open on the underside. That may save a bunch of space, and perhaps you could consult with AMD or whoever made the Aluminum hood to see if it can be relieved like that. I know the Aluminum hoods are a bit thicker material than the steel. Maybe it would lend itself well to customizing?

Default Intake Height

I measured the stock truck intake on my car and it was right at 10 inches tall. You should be fine with a 3 inch cowl hood and maybe even a 2 inch cowl hood.....good luck

That's a work of art.
Are you going to Car Craft this weekend?

Not sure where I will be at yet. But, I plan on going all three days. I do not have a car ready yet so I will be riding along with a friend in one of his cars. I'll pm you my number.
