Cool That's why we

prebuild before painting! Well, got the engine out and mated to the 4L60E and slide them under the car and wouldn't you know .... the tranny mount is still too far forward for the frame mounts. I will need to either: modify the cross brace to mate to the brackets on the frame, or cut the brackets off the frame and re-weld them farther forward! Hmmmm.

All dressed up and no where to go!

Cross brace is too far forward .... GRRRRR!

SHORT....by that far!

Another view.

Snails view @ 5" ride height, nothing below the crossmember ... yet!

Not much of an update, but my goal was met .... when it warms up to 50's get that dang tranny under the car! Now hopefully tomorrow I'll get the leaf spring brackets cut off the 12 bolt and prepare the weld on brackets and measure the pinion angle for one of many I'm sure!

Thanks for looking .... I've got homework to do now!

Scott is it possible to mount the cross member to the trans and side brackets and get you pinion angle then weld the brackets to the frame ?

Michael, I think this bracket I fabbed up this morning will allow you weld it to the frt of the crossmember and move it back enough to catch the holes in the trans mount tab's. Sorry that you had a hick up. I've never had a 4L60E here for fit. I will start building the trans tabs about 4" longer.I will ship this out ASAP Monday morning.

Wayne, At first that was the Idea I had also. But I came up with this new weld on bracket so Michael didn't have to spend time cutting the old bracket off and grinding. This way he simply center up the new bracket, bevel the crossmember some and weld away.Out of 88 sub frame's I think only 2 or 3 guy's had used auto trans. And those guys I shipped the trans tab bracket's tacked welded so they could make ajustment's.

Thanks Scott. Just trying to think like you fabricators do, but that's a much easier way to do it. Nice solution.

Wayne,Your Idea was my first Idea. Then I slept on it and came up w/Plan-B !!!!!! And Plan-B was more work for me,but less work for Michael. And going the extra mile for a customer is alway's the best route !!!!!!!! (Sometime's)
