Default Poor Planning

Chalk this up to poor planning on my part. I need to run brake lines over the rear end and do not have any mounting tabs. I forgot to weld the tabs back on after having the rear end narrowed. The rear is already powder coated and installed. Any suggestions?

You can always go Ghetto and zip tie them !

How about running the hardline along the frame rail and tee it off there. Then run flex down to the caliper with a 90 at the end similar to the way you'd run the front. Then up top run hardline out of the tee to the other side frame rail and then down to the caliper the same way. But I dont know how much suspension travel you have.

How about installing standard u-bolt style clamps (like for 3" mufflers) w/the correct tab welded to the flat portion?

you could mask off the areas where the hard lines are going to run and leave an 1/8 inch strip exposed, then lay a thin bead of windshield urethane on the exposed are. use 1/8 inch blue fine line to protect the exposed area of the brake line and press it into place. use the fast set type urethane. then remove the tape and it should be a clean and neat job. just an idea

Here is what we did on my project.

The funny thing is I didn't want lines on my axle..

I was in the same position you are but I didn't want ugly tabs or brake lines on my housing. I ran the front to rear line using the stock location, then used a T and ran a hard line tight against the body to the other side.

The hard line is secured midway across the car using a clip welded to the original rear end bump stop. I removed the bump stop because I'm running a Chris Alston 4 link.

I might have some pictures. Let me know if you want me to look for them.

Kenny Davis Hot Rods make some really cool clips for Brake, Air & Fuel Lines that you may be interested in.

Here they are on Rad Rides Cuda.

buy the brake line tabs, and some 3 inch stainless hose clamps, paint the clamps black and clamp the brackets on the axle.

Id weld them. We had the 3 inch clamps and they moved, chipping off the paint. So we had to repaint. If you can weld it you should.
