Default Checking bell housing alignment?

I have a new tremec tko600 kit it came with all the stuff. I checked my bell housing alignment and was past the 0.005 tolerance. I then checked my old bell housing and it was with in spec of 0.005 . Is it comon that a new bellhousing will be off & have to use off set dowels? My old bellhousing won't fit, and my new one is just the cast gm one that comes with the kit.

Default

I haven't heard of too many people having alignment problems with factory bellhousings, but I would buy the dowels and make sure it is aligned. I had to buy offset dowels for the scattershield for my Mustang. Depending on how far out it is, you may not have any problems. It was just one of those things that makes me feel better knowing that it's right.

Default It's good to go now!

Got it all worked out. Called the guys at cc5 to check if it was possible it could be the new bell housing. They didn't think so, but said there is a first for everything. They offered to ship a new one. At this point I went down and got some off set dowels. After spending a lot of time trying to get the old dowels out I found the problem. The guys down in mexico put my dowels in at an angle(darn target motor). You could see in the holes where it had a lip from the dowels being pushed in there wrong. I got the dremal out smoothed out the lip and put in my .007" off set dowels now my runout is down to .002" not to bad.
