Hi, I just joined thanks to doing some research to see if anyone had tried to use the 2004-2007 GTO IRS in a first-gen Camaro, and found this post by my friend:

He did dramatize a little.
I put some introduction here:

But I'll try it again properly.
I'm Ricky, I'm 29 years old, and I've had a few American cars. I started with Monte Carlos: first a '78, then an '86SS. I now took possession of my '69 Camaro and am wondering where to go with it. It's rough, but you can't beat the price (free).
I think my plan of the moment is to try to build a 2004-2007 GTO in a much better looking body. Something that can hang with E39 M5's.
My thoughts on the matter are an LS2 with a 4L60E or six speed auto hooked to paddle shifters on an ididit or Monte/Tilt Camaro column for motivation, and an aftermarket front subframe (DSE if cash allows) and some upgraded rear suspension for the back. The last observation and brainstorm is that the GTO IRS and the 12-bolt that's in it are roughly the same width.
The idea is that I could drive the car everyday if I wanted to, and I can sell that pesky E36 M3 once this is done.
