Default What's up with Oregon??

Got a weird question. I used to live in the D.C. area and all we ever heard of was California this, Phoenix, Arizona that. Now that I moved to Arizona, all I hear is east coast this east coast that, until I started noticing all the posts from people from oregon. Don't wanna be rude or anything, but last time I heard anything about oregon was in middle school when we played oregon trail in the computer lab! Obviously y'all got it goin' on over there, besides all the rad projects and custom shops, is it a high tech area or what?

Yeah we have a lot of hi-tech here. There are at least six Intel properties within a few miles of my home...and that's just one of the many hi-tech companies around here (Portland area). Of course we have Nike here too and Microsoft is just up I5 as well!

And yes there are quite a few custom car shops that turn out nice work as well as a growing number of L-g members too!

So yeah we do more than just rain and trees!

I've got friends there. It's my favorite place to visit!

Actually most of our customers come from Washington.

Oregon is a pretty good place to live (if you don't have to deal with the public schools). We don't have the traffic of Seattle, or the road Nazis of California.

Why are public schools a problem?

I dont have the stats in front of me, but Portland public schools are one of the highest funded in the nation, have one of the shortest school years and rank in the bottom third in test scores.......

In Multnomah we just got through 3yrs of the I-tax (surcharge paid to the county) it was supposed to keep schools open longer and keep prisoners in jail.........it was about a 1% tax and didnt make a lick of difference.......where did our money go????
