Default wheel & tyre sizes

Hi Guys, i've just got a '69 SS Camaro into the 'shop for some bodywork & a paintjob. The cars been lowered about 2-3 inches & the owner wants to put bigger wheels & tyres onto it but doesn't want to mini-tub it. What are the largest 17" wheels & tyres you can fit front & rear? Also what would be the largest 18" wheel & tyre combo for the same car? What backspacing would be used to get these wheels/tyres under the arches without modifying the metalwork? he doesn't mind if the arches need to be "rolled" slightly on the underside lip. Thanks.......Nigel

17x8 front 17x9.5 rear same with 18's 18x8 and 18x9.5. front back spacing is maximun of 5" with 4-7/8" to be optimum and 5.5" for rear.

tires would be 245/40/17 front and 275/40/17 rear and for 18's it would be the same. I know there will be other sizes but this seems to be the one everyone uses.
