Default 72 Nova differences

Just like the title says. I found a 72 Nova for a great price and was wondering the differences between it and the 68-71. I have always followed the Camaro seen so Novas are my weak suit. Any help appreciated, I will probably buy it tomorrow if it is still there.

Well there some small difference's on about everyone on those year nova's. The 68 even though new body style is still a chevy II and interior is abit diff. than newer models. A 69 has shorter taillights, sidemarkerlights. also side louver frt. fender's. 70 has bigger taillights, sidemakerlights, louver's frt.fender's.71 and 72 real similiar other grille and taillight lense's diff.maybe other stuff I'm missing but you get the idea. like he stated above i have a 69 and a 71 unless u know what u are looking for only minor changes i have noticed between the 2 cars, the tail light size and arrangment (reverse light) , side marker lights being different size, and the grill be a lil different. i didnt notice anything about the fender gills or vents that would probly depend on trim pakages i would assume, neither of mine had them. minor changes, only i huge nova nut would know the difference, or even notice. i have both and it too me a while to find the differences in them. otherwise mechanically as far as i know there are no differences, other then 71 and 72 did not have big blocks.

Since the Nova was basically the entry-level model, Chevy invested a minimal amount in updates. For the most part 68-72 are pretty much the same overall. 68 was still called a Chevy II though and I think it's the only one with non-welded door hinges and dash mounted ignition. Every year drivetrains were tweaked, options were changed and interior details were slightly updated. This is my understanding of what changed that you can see from 20 feet away:

68-69: wider sections on the grill pattern, smaller side markers, reverse lights located on the inside 1/3 of the tail light. Amber front blinkers.
69-70: Optional SS f.fender gill trim piece
70-72: narrow sections on the grill pattern, larger side markers , reverse lights centered inside each tail light. (70 is the only year with clear blinkers)
71-72: Amber front blinkers. Taller reverse light than 70

SS models had blacked out grills and often had an additive tail panel. Some had the faux heat risers in the hood.

73-74:bumpers got gigantic, grills no longer wrapped onto fender, quarter windows were a different shape, no more vent windows, tail lights were two rounded rectangles on each side, license plate was pushed up onto the top of the notched bumper and hatchback was available.

Hope this helps

Thanks, I gave it a second look and decided to pass on it. I may wait a little while and if it is still there then I may get it. It needs about everything.
