Default Bored and thinking

Well, I am home sick and bored and so I started building a few cars in my heads. Please feel free to comment or build along!

1) This one hit me while flipping through a new book I received for Christmas, "The Complete Book of Corvette." Take a beat up '82 Collector's Edition (has an opening hatch) and put the front end from a '68-'72. Glass in the back end of the same, but keep the opening hatch from the '82. Add a set of nice seats for the interior, plus the usual compliment of gauges, and hit up Vette Brakes to rework the suspension. A nice LS engine and a 6-speed to round it all out.

2) '78-'80 Cutlass with T-Tops. OAI hood and lower it a bit. Nothing too fancy, but a nice LS and 6-speed will do the trick. I'm thinking of a nice Hurst style white and gold paint job and a set of the big SSIII billet wheels.

3) This one's a bit weird, but keep with me. A Ford Granada 4-door. Smooth it out and narrow the bumpers. Paint all of the trim a nice dark semi-gloss charcoal and do the body up in silver. A Chevy DOHC inline-6 with either a 5 or 6-speed and an IRS from a T-bird. The interior should get a nice compliment of gauges, lots of leather, and a moon-roof from a late model. Now there's a daily driver I can live with! If the Chevy 6 ticks off the Ford guys, maybe an SHO 6 would do the trick?

4) Here's an easy one. Take an '84 to 9? 'Vette (though I prefer the earlier, more square bumpers) and slam a nice LS in it. Upgrade the interior and get rid of the Star Wars inspired dash. With the price of early C-4 'vettes, this one should be cheap too!

Well, I've sneezed one too many times on the keyboard, so I need to stop typing before I electrocute myself. Happy new year!

Shiny Side Up!
Bill

Thats my favorite ! Just think how good deals early C4s are. They have killer suspension allready. And it just gets better with lightweight LSx.

That starwars dash is so simple to throw away and replace with aluminum panel and real gauges. Seat can be easily upgraded etc. List in endless and really lowbuck stuff.

Even if everything available is bolted on 1gen i am sure it wont out handle C4 with good tires.

Look what you get at 5500 ! No need even for paint job. And i am sure somebody will give few bucks of old drivetrain.

I like #2.
Remember those HURST/OLDS models they came out with? I forget what year/s.
Those would look KILLER with a nice cowl hood, given a LS6 and some nice lowering suspension parts as well as some Fiske wheels/ wilwood brake upgrades.
I can picture it now,.....

Not that this has much of anything to do with the topic but I've always wanted to buy a Subaru Brat and put a full STI drivetrain in it, leave the outside bone stock with factory graphics and all, just a nice set of wheels and lowered.

I'm plaining on doing this to my 87 cutlass. It would be white with LS engine 6 speed and all suspension from Mark at SC&C, also Fikse wheels.

No. 1 sounds like awful lot of work and not too sure about the end result, you might make it work. Vette Brakes haven't really come up with anything new in the past 15 years as far as their suspension stuff goes, I'd go with Van Steel Coil over set up or Jim Meyer. Vette Brakes now offers a relatively cheap C5 brake conversion though...

I LOVE your '79!

Yeah, the glass work would be a bit of a pain, but I think it would make a cool look.
