Default LS7 with an Automatic--options with cruise control

I have a 69 Camaro in the planning stages. Already have a ls7 out of a z06 and plan to mate it to an automatic. Talked to John at Speartech about a harness. He told me the only transmission he has been able to have cruise control behind a ls7 was a 4l70e.
I was wandering if anyone had any other better options. I really like the compushift option with paddleshift, but I think I like cruise control better. Was wandering if I can have it all?
Knew a guy with a bunch of new GM 4l70e units with converters for $1200. So I bought one. Now I would like to upgrade the transmission with the necessary parts to make it a little more likely to live behind the ls7. Wanted some recommendations of which parts to replace. Also interested in some recommendation on a converter. I'm not a racer, so not looking for this aspect.
Thanks Tim

What about the 4l80e. And I know that GM has released a six speed auto but i do not know if anybody has put it in an early model. Does anybody else know? Also why not manual you can still have cruise control?

We've worked with at least 6 people on 6L80 swaps. A few are already running driving cars. With that said, you should approach the swap as unchartered territory--mostly from a calibration standpoint. But HPTuners has made great progress on calibration tweaking. Te big question is: How much of that can be applied to pro-touring type swaps as opposed to OE 6L's such as C6 vettes, G8's, etc. The answer is coming.

As for this particular application--LS7 with GM ECU and 4L, you will need the following to have it all (cruise control and paddle shift):
-GM ECU with trans type parameter set to M6 (not A4)
-M6 harness
-Compushift with standalone transmission harness
-Shrifter® Paddle Shifter
-Aftermarket standalone cruise control such as Rostra aftermarket unit.

And I strongly recommend one of our MuscleDrive converters to take advantage of the LS7.
