Default Lifter Help......Best lifters

Ok well I got off the phone today with kauffman/KRE because i am going to use a set of their aluminum d port. my cam I just bought is a lunati 241/249 110lsa hydraulic flat tappet. Jeff told me I would easily be able to hit over the 500/500 mark with a 468ci and their d ports with that cam on 87 octane even! Now my question who has the best hydraulic lifters, I looked at the Lunati performance lifters for higher rpm and the isky anti pump up lifters. Anybody know of anything else?

You have no worries about high RPM operation with a 241 / 248 cam in a 468CI. That thing will be done at 5700 or so. I suspect that cam is right at .500 lift, And just about any lifter is good to 5700 and .500 lift.

This may be something you already know, but if you are doing the work yourself, be careful when breaking in your flat tappet cam. It is hard to get motor oils currently that have enough zinc to protect flat tappet lifters. The stuff harms oxygen sensors and the oil companies have taken it out since most OEM engines now have roller tappets.

I agree with Frank... you shouldn't have any lifter issues to start with.

Make sure you measure your pushrod length... and break the cam in correctly - both of those things are more important than what NAME brand of lifter you'll choose.

Honeycut -

Great video -- thanks for reposting it. I've seen it before - and anyone building an engine should see it. Especially if they're newbies. But it's always a good reminder too!

I learned something about the spinning pushrods - making a mark on them is a killer 'tip'.
