Default New guy with 69 Cougar

Here are some pics of my Cougar. I have owned the car since 1990 was restored and driving until It was the victim of a three car pile in 1997. It was the one in the middle. I repaired all the structural damage, replaced the RF fender, RH door, Front valance, Rear valance, Trunk lid, Grille and Hood. Then I had to put the repairs on hold and the car has been in storage for since 99. Now I am living in a house with enough room to get some work done. The car is lowered 2 inches front and rear with 1 1/8 front sway bar and 3/4 rear sway bar with 4 wheel disc brakes. Now I want to update the suspension and upgrade the brakes. I have fitted some 17 inch wheels for mock up and I am finishing the body work.

Nice! I have always liked the Cougars. It looks like you have a good start to the project. There are alot of great vendors listed on the left of the screen. You can find anything you will need to build your car. Good luck and post lots of pictures to.

Default Paint

Even though its a long time from paint I have been thinking of different colors to paint it. It is white now with bumpers painted and chrome trim blacked out.Been kicking around the idea of two tone black and dark gray metallic,
metallic gray or even semigloss black to give it a stealthy all business appearance. Any ideas or opinions? I am going to drive the hell out of this car and was thinking I wouldn't want anything too flashy or pretty making me too worried about dinging it.

This is what I am doing for paint. The grey will be darker on the car than it looks in the rendering, and the hood color is black. Not sure how much "sheen" the black will have yet. If you went with a two tone on yours the black could follow the raised portion of your hood, or do the bottom half of the car black and the top half grey. Look up Ben Hermance here and see about having him do some designs for you. That way you can get a really good idea how it will look finished. hermancedesign.com

Having seen it, and drawn it, splitting a 2 tone at the body line that goes from above the front wheel down to in front of the rear wheel looks very 70's...if that is what you are going for, knock yourself out, but if not, I would advise against it!
The upper body line is a nice sharp line and a good place to split the colors.
Just a Cougar-obsessed guy's point of view!

If I do a two tone, upper bodyline is where I would split it. I have seen it done at the lower swooping bodyline and you are right, very seventies and not a look I am going for.
