Default Musclecars invade local autocross!

Ok, so there was only 3 of us out of a large field last Sunday but people were stopping to stare. One guy in a new car even stopped at tech and said "I didn't know there was a showcar here too!"

I talked my friends into coming out this time and we had a blast. Devin(Lat-g screen name; Project Mayhem) brought out his killer Charger, Fred in his Ride Tech equipped 67 Camaro (FredD106) and Chris (YouthPastor) co-drove his wife's G35 since his Camaro is in bare metal at the moment.

Thanks to the guys for coming out and thanks to my cousin Adam for documenting it on his camera. Much better pics than last time!

The Buick worked great and with the Hotchkis, Lee, Bilstein, Baer and BF/G parts all working in perfect harmony, I've been able to ramp my learning curve in total control with the anemic 300" motor and Powerglide buzzing along in first gear but this winter, it's getting a boost of hp.

Devin and his car are the real deal. Debuted in the Mopar Booth at SEMA, ran 11 second quarter miles, full features in PHR, Super Rod and Mopar Collector's Guide and since then he has road tripped it not trailered it to Las Vegas and a Nor-Cal Good Guys show as well as having it at the Playboy Mansion last year for Mopars at the Mansion

This pretty much sums up his attitude toward driving the hell out of this car.

Based on his reaction to his first autocross, I think this is probably still what his face looks like.

Fred's car is a super clean 67 with a stout 383 and a 4 speed that he really wants to swap for a 5 speed over the winter. His suspension consists of Shockwaves on all 4 corners with some swaybars he will likely be upgrading this winter now that he's been bitten by the autocross bug.

There was a cool selection of cars there which is one of my favorite things about the autocross. This little Lotus Exige looked like it was on a zip-line the way it went through the course and laid down low e.t. for the day.

The guy driving this GTR had it on 18" slicks instead of the stock 20s and drove it like he stole it and was on the heels of the Exige but with all that mass, could never quite pull a clean run and had cone rash all down the sides to prove it! Hats off to anyone who does that to a new supercar!

This Viper was getting driven hard and even swapped ends and backed it into the weeds at speed. This shot was late in the afternoon with the sun nice and low and just came out perfect.

Great Jason!! 6 Thumbs up!!

I wish I'd have known this was on -- I'd have been there to cheer you guys on!!

Maybe I better build the Minotti to do Auto X?? Wouldn't that be "dare to be different"!!!

Thanks for sharing Jason---put a smile on my face---great backdrops also! Your ride looks outstanding---how did it perform? Any new part plans now that its been out to an autocross? Is that your credit card I hear screaming in the background?

Thanks Guys!

Sorry for not giving a heads up, Greg. You should DEFINITELY set up the 37 P-T style! I can see it now!

Thanks Doug, Glad you like it! I'm having a blast and my parts are working brilliantly but I have a major HP defecit but as an example of how well my parts work, Devin only beat me by a second with a Reilly Alter-K-tion and coil overs up front plus sticky Michelin race tires all the way around and Fred covered me by 3 seconds with more than 2x my hp and a 4 speed in a smaller car so (Buick purists, stop reading NOW) when I drop in my LS2 and a Keisler 6 speed over the winter, I should have them covered. I'm not one to go cross-breeding but think of the LS as a corporate motor and if Buick weren't marketing to blue-hairs, they would have LS motors in something RWD and cool!

Now, who here has LS parts? I still need a few things like a throttle body and drive by wire gas pedal, injectors, headers, etc.....
