Default Clutch Adjustment

I started my car for the 1st time and when I put in gear which is hard to do and let the clutch out it barely turned the wheels. I know it is out of adjustment so I guess the only way is to adjust the pivot ball on the Lakewood bellhousing, mine is an adjustable pivot. Is the only way to do this is remove trans and what is the standard amount for the ball length or whatever and where to measure to get the proper amount so I only have to do this one more time? Newbie!!
Thanks,
Greg

Rule of thumb when setting a ball stud and fork. The fork should be parallel with the back of the block at half travel of the pedal inside the car. Then cut off excees stud.
