Default Ford 9"

So I'm looking into installing a 9" in a project, and curious if it's worth it to upgrade to a aftermarket unit. Or if I get a rust free stock one off Craiglist and install a back brace it would be more than sufficient. The plan is around 800 HP, twin turbos. Detroit trutrac rearend with 4.88s. Big ford ends, narrowed to fit a wider set of wheels. Any input is appreciated, thanks!

Personally I would buy one from the manufacturer you are going to need for your axles. The housings aren't that expensive anyway, and you can have them come braced, made to your width with a drain plug, vent, small or big bearing ends, etc. They will also be to blame if the axles don't fit properly. You can still use a stock type housing, its just easier this way.

Nick, I would consider going with the Wavetrac and 35 spline axles as opposed to a Trutrac and 31's with that kind of HP. Curry also has a killer new Fab 9 housing. Give me a call and I can put together a few Curry quotes for you.

The wavtrac is nice, but I'm not sure I want to swing the money. We'll see, I've dealt with moser a few times now and if I go fabbed I was thinking about going with there unit. I'll have to look into the curry on.e
