Default paint coming off 05 duramax

hey guys, just wondering if any of you bought a duramax in 05 and if it still has paint on the roof..... as you might guess, mine does not. GM wont do anything about it and i think its b#llsh!t! i would think the paint should last 5 years at least til its paid for!! do any of you know of any recourse to get this fixed? GM pretty much said good luck with that.... it only has 62000 miles and always garaged, can this be normal???????

to my knowledge all gm vehicles have a paint warranty of 100k or 5 years, I would look into or call someone else!

yeah thats what i thought too. local dealer denied it and the GM customer service dept. also said that it wasnt covered! But the dealer offered me a quote to paint it and from then on it would be covered for lifetime!! I had no idea that these local painters were so much better than the factory!!LOL aint that a crock???? I have bought SEVERAL new trucks, yukons, etc and never had this issue. Im at a loss....

Pretty sure that is a perforation warranty for corrosion. I remember back in the late 80's and early 90's a lot of GM and Chrysler cars had paint that would peel right off the primer. Some of that was covered under GM warranty because it happened on so many cars. I think they are going to say no until a bunch of people have the same issue.

Did you buy the truck new? Have the roof checked to see if it's been painted. You would be surprised how many NEW vehicles are repaired with ''TRANSPORT DAMAGE'' .. I know this first hand, I handle four GM dealerships.I just check two years back in my records ,I have had no roof delamination issues with GM trucks.

I agree with Mario, I'd take it to a few good shops to see if the truck had paint work done prior your purchase.I've repaired countless brand new still wrapped in plastic cars for local Acura dealership,

There is a shop around the corner from mine with brand new Hondas and Toyotas that should have been totaled, but they fix them and cars get transported to West Coast dealerships.

So you might have a truck with previous paint work. I've owned many GM SUV's and trucks and have never had issues with paint

as a ford dealer employee and a bodyshop owner , ford and gm paint warranty is 3 years 36000 miles , corrision protection is 100.000 k or 5 years . so if the paint rust off thats covered , but peeling is not .
