Default Can you narrow your factory gas tank?

I was wondering if it's possible to have your factory gas tank narrowed? I was looking at the BMR Torque Arm kit and there are some photos posted of the kit installed. I noticed that there isn't much room for the tailpipe where it goes around the tank. I think if you were to narrow the tank you could get a 3" tailpipe through there. Check out the thread on 2nd Gen rear suspension in the "suspension" area.

this has been covered many times... but the answer is yes... the two things to worry about is the stat of your old tank... and the fuel vapours

let it dry out... purge the vapours with air till all residual fuel has evaporated... and just to be sure.. put some dry ice in the tank, that will fill it with co2, making it impossible for any fuel vapour to burn/explode..

gasoline vapour isnt that explosive, and its very volatile.. so ince its dry its dry.. i would be more worried about welding a diesel tank..

many people remove the two front corners of the tank to make room for the tailpipe bends btw
