Default PTFE/Teflon Lined fuel hose

Can anybody recommend a good place to get PTFE/Teflon lined fuel hose. I found this place http://www.anfittingsdirect.com/inde...7f9dea599fbcc8, but don't know if it is too good to be true. Are all teflon lined hosed created equal? I tried to get local quotes, but were in the area of $250-$300 for 3 lines not totally more than 3 feet combined.

Thanks in advance

Robert

Robert,

Brown&Miller racing solutions has done all my lines and the quality is excelent. Check out this page in my build thread.

https://lateral-g.net/forums/show...ighlight=blast

They do smooth bore and convoluted bore teflon inners up to very big sizes, its not cheap but you will never smell fuel or replace a line again. Very nice people to work with.

Hope this helps-Rich

Those lines are just fine. I have used many ptfe lined hoses and never had a problem. I use them for gases and fluids of all types. All mine were made in the states so Im not sure if some import (read chinese) lines might have some issues, either with the plastic itself (bad chemistry) or physical issues (maybe too thin in spots).

There are some great newer lines out that are convoluted and can be bent in some pretty sharp turns VS the smooth bore lines.

I assemble my own lines and ends with re-usable swivel ends.

With ptfe core you will be using steel ends VS aluminum ends for rubber core. The aluminum ends are usually defined as AN type fittings. Type meaning they have similar dimensions to AN fittings but not all of them are AN certified.

But we are flying cars here not aircraft so we dont really need AN certs.

The steel ends for ptfe core lines are commonly available as JIC (joint industry council) fittings. Its another spec, just as AN (Army and Navy) has a spec.

You wont go wrong with a decent JIC end, as long as you keep with the standard and assemble the end correctly. No reason you couldnt make up your own hoses with reusable JIC fittings.

Oh, and when going from hard JIC to AN fittings there isnt an issue because they use the same flare angle. JR

Just want to clarify, the lines made up at AN fittings direct may be steel only. But all of Brown and Millers stuff is Alluminum(you can probably get steel) crimped to the TFE and no problem using alluminum fittings.

Im amazed at the flexibility of the steel braided convoluted TFE hoses.

If you look in the January 2011 issue of Hot Rod, there is a complete article on that type of hose on page 86. Lots of good information.

I have also researched several of the teflon hoses. One thing I am not quite clear on is the different types of inner teflon hose, that is, carbon impregnated vs. non. The hose with an inner black lining is carbon impregnated and recommended for fuel use because it will discharge any build up of electricity. I realize it is recommended but a lot of people use the white hose with no problem, I believe..........????

Anybody with experience here?

Thanks!

Here is a good link to this conductive issue:

http://www.aerocomfittings.com/electrostatic.html

Unfortunately, the only place I can find that sells conductive hose, at a reasonable price, is pegasus racing and it is still quite expensive.

Here's why it's not a problem....

The entire system is GROUNDED via all the braided and the fittings etc. So even if there was static - it would be bled to ground.

Thanks Greg.

That makes sense to me with all the steel fittings attached to the S/S hose.
