Got a ticket for no front license plate tonight

I have been driving my 80 Z28 around for 4 years now in Missouri with no front license plate. I painted 4 years ago and put a new nose on and can't stand the thought of drilling holes in it. I have driven the car in 3 different states and got a ticket tonight from a small town cop. No cops in my home town have cared about it. Think I still should gotten a warning first.
