Anyone heard of this place? I just learned about it from some ricer kids I work with and it's practically in my backyard. Biggest downfall I can see is a 94.0 dB max sound level measured at 50 ft. from the track with the car travelling at speed. Not too much clear info on the website but the track looks cool.
This track is closer to PIR than Firebird, I believe.
Problem is, not long after they opened the place, the neighboring communities filed injunctions due to the noise that caused the place to shut down. Last I heard, its been closed for years. But I suppose that may have changed recently...
Edit: Sounds like they're making steps towards opening again. This past weekend was a sound certification event to certify cars to run. The decibel restrictions could be quite a challenge for our cars though...
Firebird actually has some small roadcourses on its property. Bondurant uses the courses and there are a number of motorcycle track days. This AZMSP is supposed to be a much nicer facility and track layout than Firebird.
What's funny is it's right next to Luke AFB with F-16's flying around all the time which aren't exactly quiet. I'm north of there and they shake my house sometimes at the end of the day coming if for landing.
I had the same thought about the noise requirement excluding a lot of our cars. How loud does a car have to be to be below 94 dB from 50 ft away?
