Default Header advice for my setup

Hey guys,

I just put a GM Fastburn 385 into my 68 Camaro and need some help finding headers for it. I've done a search and haven't really come up with anything definite. The problem is that the fastburn heads have a D-port shape and not a lot of guys make headers for that application. Can anyone recommend a good solution?

Howdy,

The D-Port shouldn't matter unless it has been enlarged a lot from porting (and lets hope that is not the case). Your pipe should not match your opening anyway so a round tube will be fine on a D-Port head. The only possible issue would be coverage of the port but I would guess the Fast burn heads to have smallish ports. Not a bad thing by the way...

The fast burn head has the std bolt pattern on the exhaust flange so any 23* SBC header will bolt up. Again the D port shape on this head should not effect the header selection. Without knowing any other specifics on the engine I would make an educated guess and say 1 3/4" tubes should do you well.

Chris

Maybe you can look for something for an lt1 car that may fit your application? I believe lt1 heads are d-port.
