Default Another 68 Camaro

Figure it is time to post a build thread on my car since I am making some progress and have some time to work on it now. So at the request of Ron I will let everyone see my very mild project compared to most on the site.

I bought the car in August of this year as a project that had been painted and in California for most of its life. Car had a 302 Chevy in it that was a fresh rebuild and a rebuilt 12 bolt. Both are now sold as well as a ton of other parts that came with the car for a 68 Z28. The car is mostly original metal (hood and floor pan are not) painted the factory color of Matador Red with black Z stripes (I hate Red). I got a great deal on the car especially after I sold all the parts I am not using. Which lets me stomach it being red for now.

Details of the build.

6.0 LQ9 Iron block motor with custom Spec'd cam. (Bought from Daytonayellaz)
Stock heads for now
GMPP Carb Intake
LS1 T56 Tranny
Moser 9 inch, 3.89 gears (bought from Ron)
Jake's Rod Shop C6 Subframe
Global West Subframe Connectors (Ron)
Hotchkis Rear Leafs
Recaro Seats

I am not going to be mini-tubbing the car, I bought the rear from Ron.in.SoCal and it is stock width and I already had the leaf springs. I am trying to build this car on as small as a budget as possible like many other people. I am 28 and work 2 jobs so I don't have a ton of time to get it done.

I recently installed a 1 piece floor pan because somone patched the toe board and a small section of the driver pan and it looked like crap. The rest of the car is super solid.

Here are some pics.

The first picture is when I brought the car home, the last picture is before I started tearing it down to install all the new parts. Will post more progress pics soon.

** Will fix pictures tonight at home, work computer will not allow me to post them so you don't have to click a link.

Thanks guys

The brake situation is finally settled Ron, Tobin is sending me the correct brackets. I now have an extra ebrake setup for a new style large bearing rear end.

For anyone interested in anything Jake's Rod Shop sells I highly recommend his products, he was super to deal with and had the frame done and ready to be shipped when I called. Very happy with the way the subframe turned out!

Car looks like a solid foundation. Keep us posted with lots of pics. And the subframe is a fine piece of art.

Thanks I will add more pics this weekend. The sub is definitely nice and has great geometry. Hope it's as fun to drive as I think it will be
