Alright guys, long time lurker, first time poster. I have a 90 454SS truck, build thread link at the bottom. I am running down a cost effective coil over setup for the front of my truck, as well as every other Chevy truck owner. For most this is pretty simple as the coil over kits for a 2nd Gen Camaro bolt in and give about a 3" drop. This is in a small block truck with a BBC truck its to much drop. I've been told it's because the spring rates are too low and we can't go bigger than 550lb spring rates with the "tapered" style coil spring that these kits use. It is 3.5" at the top, to fit the stock spring cup or bucket or whatever it's actually called. So I came up with the bright idea of just building a new bucket and welding it inside the old one. Good idea? That opens up WAY more spring options for us and we could probably find the right set to get the truck to behave, at least somewhat, in a turn. I know when I get done it will still be a truck but I do care about the total package performance. With the build setup it should be around 550 RWHP with a T-56 behind it and a Detroit Tru Track out back. So bein able to corner would be fun. Sorry about the novel, feel free to comment or suggest other ways to make this project behave.
