Default Removing old wiring

I just bought the AAW kit for my car. Now I'm currently stripping all the old wiring. My question is, is there any wiring I need to retain and not throw out? Also how do I remove the steering column?

Keep all of the plastic tabs that hold the harness to the body. They come in handy later. I wouldn't throw anything away until the new harness is completely installed.

I would keep the entire old harness until you get it all wired up. You never know what you may need until you need it

I don't throw stuff away or sell it off until I am 100% sure I don't need it anymore

I did the AAW kit on my '69 and the only thing I remember needing to save was the fog lamp wire harnesses. I don't think the AAW kit came with those, or maybe I just missed them somehow. As someone else mentioned, any tabs on your car that hold wires in place you'll definitely want to save. I would just replace all the bulbs with new ones if you're unsure of how old any of them are. If you remove your current wiring carefully without cutting and it's in relatively good/original condition, you might actually be able to sell it. That's what I plan to do with mine. I saw somebody actually sell one on Ebay and he got some decent money for it.
