Default fuel injected tank on a 69 camaro?

I was told I could buy the fuel injected tank and just run my carb set up for now?
Could I just use mechanical pump to pull gas from tank and leave electric pump unhooked until I do my Ls swap? Im not able to do LS motor at this time.

The car is mini tubed so I need to run a narrowed tank and hate buying thing twice.

Thanks Kirk

I wish I had done that! I bought the DSE carb tank for my '69, and now after 1 tank of gas decided to go EFI and now need a new tank!

Check out tanksinc.com, they have bolt in / in tank fuel pumps that you might be able to use with your existing tank. It uses a walboro pumps and depending on the unit, some have built in sumps right under the return fitting dump. As I recall, you need to take the tank to a radiator shop and have it boiled out to remove the flammable atmosphere, then cut out a hole in the top, install a ring to bolt up the top of the pump assembly, tack it in with a couple of welds, then install the pump into the tank. Ask around and see who has used one. I thought Aeromotive had something similar too.
