Just fired the car up,69 camaro with a DSE subframe.after about 2 min. Run time I went to turn the steering wheel and suddenly bound up and then the rear seal on the rack started leaking.
First thing what did I do wrong on bleeding the system
Second does anyone know that rack application to get a replacement seal.
Third can I change that seal myself or does it require special tools.
Double check your line connection's and make sure they're not crossed. But if racks leaking might be best to give DSE a call and talk to them directly. Joe
After you reconnect the hoses, run the rack back and forth before putting the car back on the ground. If you get a pulsating and notchy feeling while turning the steering wheel it is probably a sign that the rack is broken. I hooked up the lines backwards on my original DSE subframe and drove around for 6 months wondering why the front end had zero feeling or "weight" to it. If yours acts that way on the road, I've got bad news for you.
The potentially good news is that not all racks break when hooked up backwards, and maybe yours is fine. Hope it works properly when hooked up!
You popped the steering input seal. I did the same thing by hooking up the lines backwards. You need to fix the seal or replace the rack. I didn't have the directions and assumed red was high pressure and yellow was low. Never assume anything...
