Default New Rumor About Gm

I dont know how true this is but it came from a friend who knows someone at GM. Maybe those of you who work for or have connections at GM can shed some light on the subject. Rumor is that Toyota is going or talking about bying GM out.

I hope that is a rumor. I think that would be a bad decision for GM and Americans.

Toyota is making money hand over fist, now why would they take on the legacy costs and the UAW?...Whoever started that "rumor" needs to put the pipe down...

I sure hope not. I've heard that rumor a couple months ago and was told by my friend at GM that it was just a rumor and not to worry. If it does happen, that's when I'll wander over to Ford (ugh, a shiver just ran down my spine) or to Chrylser. I like German-American cars better than the Jap-American ones.

The only truth I know is that toyota desperately wants to purchase one of the american automakers. They have been eyeing up GM and Ford, will they ever get the chance to buy? who knows, but eventually something is going down, thats just how it works.

It should be illegal for a foreign company to own any part of a US company. Period. Don't bother trying to debate me on it. This crap has gone of far too long and it needs to stop. Hopefully this deal with our ports will start making people think but I doubt it. That was simply an issue over security.

Very patriotic sentiment but completely unrealistic. Get used to a global corporate culture because it's already here and it won't be stopped.

I don't see Toyota buying out GM or any other US automaker completely, but GM does have some brands they could sell off. They could even sell the name Oldsmobile for that matter. Don't they still own the rights to that brand? Anyway, that's about as much as I see any of them doing.
