Default Help: Rear main seal installation on a LS engine.

I am installing a FelPro rear main seal and don't have the expensive alignment tools. Can someone who has done this with success without the tool, tell me how they did it.
Thanks

If you've pulled the cover off, it's a crapshoot to do this without the right tool. It's hit or miss. What I do is snug the pan bolts, that go into the cover first, then hit the cover to block bolts. This is the same principal as the tool, as far as bottom alignment goes, but like I said, its really hit or miss. I've never used Fel-pros seal, I always go back GM, but that shouldn't matter.
