Accelerating is optional...........stopping is mandatory. Your car WILL stop one way or another.

Formula Offroad is maybe the most entertaining motorsport I know of, V8 sound and spectacular driving, it`s like an Extreme variant of drag racing With turns too!

You guys in US should start doing this, it would probably be very popular!

There are 2 classes. Modified and Unlimited, the bigges difference is mostly the sizes of the paddles on tires that are smaller in Modified, and that they shall "resemble" an Stock body car, or be easily seen what model it is supposed to be.

Unlimited is kind of "unlimited"

I want do this one time, it is not so very expensive either, compared to other motorsports it is cheap, but a lot of wrenching and cleaning and fixing and cleaning...

The People who have stopped doing it, often dont miss it because of all the cleaning.. I can understand. He..He..

What's the most popular platform that people build for these things, or is it all just custom tube-frame cars?? They look awesome.

I am only an spectator on these events, but the rules say you can use the frame from an Production vehicle, OR make Your own as long as you follow the rules etc.

But it is mainly tube chassis cars, more of the frame based cars before. And even if they use a Production frame as a base, it really is a tube chassis With only some "Production frame bits" so to say.

I know one who did this before, and he used an Suzuki 410 type frame as a base. (Samurai in US?)

There are several made on Jeep frames, and atleast one on a Gelendewagen frame, so there is none more used than others I think, when you look at them, NONE of them looks the same.. He..He.. Some similarities now in later years though, but cool With many different ideas and Constructions.

Other than that, thers mostly v8 of different types, Chrysler to SBC and Ford, even Big Blocks, one Volvo turbo 4 cylinder. Many uses Nitrous, now there have been several With LS and turbo, and one from Iceland With a turbo Ford.

And mostly TH400s or Powerglides as far as I know of atleast.

Here is a Clip of the Insane Racing car if not seen before, this looks a bit different than many others.
