Subframe alignment - Lateral-g Forums

So I think I got my subframe aligned last night, most of my measurements were an inch or so off what I found online, I think my measurement points may have been off but my alignment pins matched up and I measured at several different points for square and they were all within a 1/8 or so. I sat back down on the ground and the passenger side tire has way more clearance than the drivers side tire to the inner fender. Is it possible for the subframe to be pushed to the drivers side but still somewhat square?

Are you assuming the sheet metal is straight?

Its almost all new I its mostly straight. Its almost all not stock so I also assume its not straight. I just was not sure if it were possible for the subframe to be off to one side and my measurements still be almost perfectly square. If there is anything I have learned with the project its dont assume what works for one 69 Camaro will work for another and measure measure and measure again.

No two cars are alike - that's for sure. Why I asked is my front sheet metal is skewed to the drivers side if you look close. So the only way to know for sure is to establish plum and square lines to measure and align from.........I think. Kinda of a PITA to say the least.

Are you sure your camber numbers are equal on your front end, from left to right?
If you have a level shop floor, place the car on jack stands, remove the wheels, and plumb bob the rear end, using a quality plumb bob. Drop the plumb bob, as far as possible outward on the rear end. Right against the axle flange, if you can. Once your marks are on the floor, use a straight edge, and draw a line across the marks. Use this line for your reference.
On your front sub, do the same thing, but use your crossmember. Again drop your plumb bob as far outside as possible. Locate your marks on the floor, draw a line across, and take measurements front to back, on each side. This is old school, for sure, but it works. A clean, level shop floor is key. Takes about 30 minutes.
Check your camber first, then plumb bob the car if needed.
