Default Need advice for springs

I'm trying to get my chevelle dialed in. Here's where i'm at. Don't have access to corner scales, but it's a 71, all aluminum LS, tremec tko, pin on glass hood, which i'll be changing back to a hinged steel hood eventually. Car weighed in at 3440. Right now it's just got random springs that I cut down so I could move the car around.

I'm kind of confused because most coilovers seem to be 450-650lb/in, and then there's afco stock style springs that go over 1200lb/in.

The car is a street car that gets driven hard and will do occasional track road course days. Right now i've got Bilstein shocks and can keep them, or make way for coilovers. Don't really have the budget right now for top shelf stuff like ridetech, but looking at QA1 and viking coilovers, or just keeping the bilstein shocks I already have and buying a set of springs.

if using the Viking I suggest a 550lb spring set up. 450 is too light. if you want a more sporty feel or are wanting to do some auto x or track days if using the Viking double adjustable you could go to 650.

If you REALLY want to nail down a spring rate...take the time to get some measurements and weights...and use this calculator:

Yes, the images show it to be for coilovers...pretend they are regular coils...the calculation concept is still valid. DON'T take a coilover recommendation and think it will carry over to a standard coil...the mounting positions can be different. Measure and weigh.
As a second choice, use the extensive library of vehicle weights on our website to guesstimate your car's weight http://www.ridetech.com/tech/coiltech-2/
...and still take your measurements.

Default springs

Thanks guys, I think I have a connection where I can get access to some scales and do it right. Sounds like it's the only way to nail it down correctly. I'd rather have it be on the stiffer side than be wallowy. It gets driven harder than most around here.
