Default LQ9 swap question (ls1 intake/belt system)

After the 6 months of run arounds and basically the shop I had my car worked on going out of business, I had to pull the car out and bring it to my friend who is a mechanic and that works on performance Audi's and GTR's...

So basically, I have been doing a ton of research on my own.

The car is almost done but have a few questions.

If I buy a complete Ls1 manifold (rails, injectors, TB (DBW), can I use the injectors from them or should I swap them out with the stock Lq9's?

Also, do I have to run the car style accessory drive if I run there brackets?

http://dirtydingo.com/store/popup_im...D=1394&image=4

I have an complete LS1 front accessory drive but I figure the labor in swapping it out would be more expensive then just buying these brackets...

Any info would help and thanks in advance.

The intake swap has been documented many times at www.ls1tech.com . You can use the F-body FEAD but it will require a water pump change. The injector compatibility is more a matter of wiring harness connectors than anything else. I take it that the car is a Camaro? Do you have the correct oil pan? The truck pan won't work since the sump is too deep.

+1 on you can use any injector just make sure the connector is right, I have to mod my fuel rail to run truck injectors. Swapping the front drive to ls is really easy, looks better, and gives you more clearance. Ls1 intake should work with truck front drive if i remember correctly.

Yes it has been documented but not in this case...I'm not trying to be offensive in anyway, but I wrote the swap is almost done as in the Lq9 and t56 is already in the car so yes, the oil pan is already on and in. I know that that the truck FEAD doesn't work because the alt/bracket is in the way of the car style manifold/TB that's why I mentioned about buying the bracket I attached because it might be an easier alternative then taking out the truck FEAD and swapping it with the car stlye FEAD that I already have. The car is a Camaro. So the question was keep truck FEAD buy brackets or swap with car style FEAD....

I figured you could use any injector but would this require a retune? Truck FEAD drive doesn't work with the car style manifolds not to mention it's too tall to clear the hood. It's good to know that it look better thanks!

Any other tips guys that you guys can give me?

Its highly recommended to get a proper dyno/retune unless you have the factory exhaust manifolds and airbox.

I just did the same thing, its very pricey. All the small stuff adds up quick. Took me $5k to do my ls swap from a truck engine and I got good deals on all my parts. If you switch to a ls1 front drive you have to do the balancer as well, the truck balancer sticks out too far.

What year camaro is it going in?

It's a 1968 Camaro. I have the ls swap 1/7/8" Dynatech headers and will have an Ls1 manifold and an filter in fornt like most...so I probably should get a tune. I didn't know that the balancer sticks out too far but I have one from an Ls1 so thank god.

You can check out Kwik Performance as well. They have a few different options and you usually can choose which accessory drive you are starting with be it truck, camaro/gto, or corvette length.

http://www.kwikperf.com/

I'm running a GTO accessory drive on my '69 Camaro and using a Kwik Performance A/C bracket.

I should mention that Wayne at Kwik Performance is extremely helpful and always seems happy to talk to a guy.

I had to cut out a section of the sub frame to fit my alternator in the factory GTO/Fbody position. The GTO alternator is a bit smaller than the Fbody one, which helps.

There should be some pictures of the operation in my build thread in my signature.

Also, I think Holley is making some accessory drive brackets now but I haven't seen them in person.

I "think" the stock truck injectors won't work with LS1 fuel rail, since they're too tall for the lower profile LS1 rail. I was going to do the same thing for my swap and decided against it.

Holley makes decent set up. I'm running Holley accessory drive on my Firebird. Well thought out set up, the instructions were very good.

Thanks for the input. Luckily I was able to source a complete ls1 with injectors, rail and tb of craigslist for $260. But I still need a retune and MAF...
